"Deerwood Darling" - Miniature Zonal Pelargonium
"Deerwood Darling" is a miniature zonal pelargonium with flowers of an unusual shade of pink - a sort of apricot, salmon and pink, depending on the light. The growth is compact and dense and makes a good show plant as it blooms profusely.
Hybridised by Faye Brawner and introduced in the USA in 1992.
This is one of my absolute favourite miniature pelargoniums and I last posted this at the end of 2011 -gosh! I didn't realise I had been running this Blog that long. The photo has disappeared so I thought I would re-post it.
If anyone has not seen Liga's excellent videos of her visit to Fibrex Nurseries 60th anniversary weekend last year, here are the links to Parts 2 and 3

"Alex Kitson" Dwarf Zonal Pelargonium
| Dwarf zonal pelargonium "Alex Kitson" |
I think I got this last year at the plant sale held each year at ThePelargonium & Geranium Society Annual General Meeting. As most of the plants are, it was a good size and soon flowered in my greenhouse. It very quickly because last year's favourite and I am looking forward to it flowering this year.
Raised by Keith Kitson and introduced c1990, the large flower heads have semi-double flowers of a beautiful soft pink with slightly darker feathering to the centre of the petals. The plant is short-jointed and compact.
I am not sure that I shared the link to Liga's YouTube video of her visit to Fibrex Nurseries Weekend show last year. Do take a look.

Angel Pelargonium "Billie Barnes"
I have very few Angel Pelargoniums just now, but of the few I do have "Billie Barnes" is one of my favourites. Raised by Jim Zemcik, USA. The flowers have three lower petals of white with very pale feathering, and the top petals are a deep pink lightly edged with white. I find this has a lax growing habit, which makes it ideal for a hanging pot.
The latest magazine, Pelargonium & Geranium News, from The Pelargonium & Geranium Society, has now been published. This edition features articles by Ursula Key-Davis of Fibrex Nurseries on growing Ivy Leaf Pelargoniums. Another interesting article by Fibrex Nurseries is about Genetics. Plus articles about Regal pelargonium hybridist Nicola Stemp, and a member tells us how he grows his pelargoniums 'cold'.

"Maureen" - Dwarf Zonal Pelargonium

| Zonal Pelargonium "Maureen" |
I don't have much success with the dwarf zonal pelargonium "Maureen". But next year I am going to "try harder". Although I have a note that she is a dwarf type, and she is kept in a 4 1/2" pot, I think she wants to be 'set free' so I will try putting her into a 6" pot. Hopefully, I will then have more of those stunning flower heads. I love the fully double salmon pink flowers on this plant, and the leaves with their dark zone around the edges of the leaves.
This pelargonium is not listed in the International Register of Pelargoniums. The two that are listed area Regal and a Miniature zonal.
